U.S. soybean exporters are seeing growing opportunities as global demand increasingly shifts beyond China. Jim Sutter, CEO of the U.S. Soybean Export Council, says efforts to diversify destinations for American soy are showing strong results.
“Since September 1st, shipments to countries outside of China have increased by 41%,” Sutter told Brownfield. He highlights Mexico, the European Union, and Japan as leading markets for U.S. soy so far this marketing year.
Egypt has emerged as a major importer, while Southeast Asia is showing strong growth potential. The Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand are all contributing to a robust soybean meal and bean market in the region.
Sutter notes that the recent trade framework with China adds further support to an already positive export outlook, though the focus remains on building a diversified global customer base. Analysts see this broadening demand as a key factor in maintaining U.S. soybean competitiveness amid fluctuating global trade conditions.
