The U.S. soybean harvest has reached 58% completion, while corn harvesting has advanced to 44%, according to a Reuters poll of 10 analysts. Despite strong yields, progress remains slower than last year’s unusually fast pace, when soybeans were 67% harvested and corn 47% complete at the same time.
Analyst estimates for soybean harvest completion ranged from 52% to 70%, and for corn from 35% to 55%. The slower pace is attributed to a more gradual dry-down of crops compared with last year, when dry conditions accelerated maturity.
Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture did not release its weekly crop progress report this week or last. Normally, USDA reports are published every Monday, or Tuesday following federal holidays.
Crop condition ratings showed stability, with analysts judging 61% of soybeans and 64% of corn in good-to-excellent condition, a slight decrease of 1 percentage point from the prior week for corn.
Meanwhile, U.S. farmers continue planting the 2026 winter wheat crop. Analysts estimate that winter wheat planting is now 66% complete, up from last week’s average of 50%.
