The American Soybean Association (ASA), in partnership with BASF, has announced the opening of applications for its annual Soy Scholarship, a program designed to support young leaders pursuing agricultural studies.

The $7,000 scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding high school senior planning to major in agriculture at an accredited college or university during the 2026–27 academic year. The award is managed by ASA and made possible through a grant from BASF Corporation. Applications are open until December 31, 2025.

ASA President Caleb Ragland emphasized the importance of investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders. “Our future ag leaders are pivotal to ensuring growth in the industry,” Ragland said. “It’s an honor to partner with BASF to provide this support as students begin their agricultural journey.”

Echoing this sentiment, Scott Kay, Vice President of U.S. Agricultural Solutions at BASF, highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to education. “This initiative embodies our deep commitment to fostering academic excellence and empowering the next generation of ag leaders,” he said.

The scholarship will be distributed in two installments of $3,500 one per semester during the 2026–27 school year. Eligible applicants must be children or grandchildren of a current state soybean association or ASA member, maintain strong academic performance, and remain in good standing with their university.

A committee of soybean grower leaders will review applications and select the recipient, who will be announced this winter.
