As the 2025 U.S. harvest winds down, the majority of corn and soybeans have been brought in, though conditions across the Midwest and Plains have varied widely. The season has seen a mix of favorable weather for harvesting and winter crop planting, interrupted by periods of rain, frost, snow, and localized drought.
According to the USDA, 91% of U.S. corn has now been harvested, slightly below the five-year average of 94%. Soybeans are 95% harvested, just under the typical 96% pace.
Winter wheat planting is progressing, though behind schedule, with 92% of the crop planted and 79% emerged. Crop conditions show 45% rated in good to excellent shape, four points below last year.
Other crops show mixed progress as well: cotton is 71% harvested, marginally below the usual 72%, and sorghum lags significantly at 82% harvested, compared to the typical 94% pace.
The USDA will continue releasing weekly national crop progress and condition reports through the end of the month, offering updates on harvest completion and crop health ahead of winter.
