The Soy Nutrition Institute Global (SNI Global) and the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), with support from U.S. Soy, represented American soy science and sustainability at the 2025 International Congress of Nutrition (ICN) held in Paris. The event, organized every four years by the International Union of Nutritional Sciences, gathered thousands of scientists and public health experts to discuss global nutrition challenges and innovations.
During the congress, SNI Global and USSEC contributed to two key sessions emphasizing soy’s impact on human and planetary health. The first, focused on climate change, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture, highlighted how U.S. soybean farmers use precision agriculture, genetically improved seeds, and no-till methods to increase yields while conserving resources. The discussion also addressed soy’s nutritional advantages, including its high-quality protein, healthy fat profile, affordability, and sustainable production methods that make it a reliable component of global food security.
The second session examined global research on soy and heart health, reviewing differences in regulatory approaches to nutrition claims and presenting new scientific evidence confirming soy protein’s cholesterol-lowering benefits. Experts noted that these findings reinforce soy’s role as a clinically relevant and sustainable dietary protein source.
SNI Global and USSEC’s participation underscored soy’s contribution to improving global nutrition while promoting sustainable agricultural practices that align with growing environmental and public health goals.
